The Hillhead of Auquhirie Windfarm proposal is a project of the Auquhirie Land Company Ltd and will comprise of three turbines sited roughly four kilometers South West of Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire. Some of the owners of this initiative live in The Mearns and it is their intention to use local contractors where possible to benefit the local community.
THE PLANNING APPLICATION HAS BEEN SUBMITTED ON 14TH JULY 2008 AND COPIES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT CAN BE SEEN AT STONEHAVEN LIBRARY, EVEN STREET, STONEHAVEN, AB39 2ET AND AT ABERDEENSHIRE COUNCIL PLANNING DEPARTMENT, VIEWMOUNT, ARDUTHIE ROAD, STONEHAVEN, AB39 2DQ
The site was chosen for a variety of reasons including:
Good Wind Resource
No local or national natural heritage designations
Close to the grid which runs through the site
Close to the A90 for ease of access
The development will consist of three wind turbines that are likely to be under 80 meters from base to tip height. The final site design and turbine specifications will be decided upon after environmental monitoring is undertaken.
