Noise Monitoring undertaken
Temporary Met Mast erected in January 2008 to collect localised weather information.
Temporary Noise Monitoring Equipment was erected at dwellings close to the proposed development and information gathered to deduce what, if any, impact noise from the turbines would have on the neighbouring properties.
Socio-Economic and Hydrological impact assessments have been carried out in March and April with the landscape and visual impact assessment due to start in late April. A Public Exhibition was held on 7th May at the Kinneff Hall between 4-8pm. A presentation was made to Drumlithie Community Association in June 2008.
The planning application and Environmental Statement was submitted to Aberdeenshire Council in July 2008.
On 24th March 2009, the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee voted unanimously in favour of the project and it was awarded planning consent.
November 2009
Due to difficulties in procuring wind turbines at the consented height of 76m, the developer re-applied for a height extension of 16.5m giving a total revised height of 92.5m. For this height increase, Council officials and SNH required a revised EIA, and re-consulted over 50 statutory and other consultees. The application came before Aberdeenshire Coucillors after 10 months in the planning process.
August 2010
Aberdeenshire Council Planning Committee approved the height extension on 31st August 2010, despite a recommendation for refusal from Council officials.
