CONSENTED BY ABERDEENSHIRE COUNCIL ON 31st August 2010
Hillhead of Auquhirie windfarm has the capacity to save up to 12,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, and provide clean energy for nearly 4,000 homes.
In addition, the windfarm will provide a community fund of £13,900 per annum.
The Hillhead of Auquhirie Windfarm will comprise three turbines sited roughly four kilometers South West of Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire.
In March 2009, consent was granted for three turbines with a tip height of 76m. In November 2009 a planning submission was lodged with Aberdeenshire Council for a height increase to 92.5m.
Hillhead of Auquhirie Windfarm recieved a favourable decision from the Kincardine & Mearns Area Committee of Aberdeenshire Council on 31st August 2010 for a height extension to 92.5m.
The Proposal
The Hillhead of Auquhirie site was chosen for a variety of reasons:
Good Wind Resource
No local or national natural heritage designations
Close to the electricity grid
Close to the A90 for ease of access
The development will now consist of three wind turbines with hub height of 57m and a tip height of 92.5m.
Auquhirie Land Company Ltd would like to thank the team that helped achieve this latest successful decision, especially Elaine Farquharson-Black of Paull & Williamsons Solicitors, and Fraser Mackenzie of Atmos Consulting Ltd.
